So a summer of nothing but working 40 hours/wk to pay rent (at home no less) and class every single day has caused me to put the comic on the back burner. Not even the back burner, it's in Tupperware in the back of the fridge... I barely have time to go out for a few (several?) drinks after work let alone anything else I might want to do. Takes too much energy to come up with brilliant ideas. So, for now, just trying to get through the summer and get myself back to Lubbock. Yeah... I actually miss Lubbock... weirdest realization ever.
So only two more courses for the fall, but I'll be working too, much like I am now. But I think it'll be easier when I don't have the added pressure of living at home, or the hour-long commute to school twice a day with a half-hour drive to work, also twice a day. Putting 300 miles on the car three times a week is not good for it or me. Ooh! And I can't wait to ride my bike again! I left it in Lubbock (not much use for it here where everything is a 30 minute drive away) and I miss it so much. That and running. I used to be able to run at least a mile and a half straight, but I can hardly make it down the block now (which is 1/6th of a mile). Oh well, it'll just take time.
Enough for now, my brain hurts.

Characters
at
22:21
I think I've settled on the characters finally, at least the main few.
Keelin - 25/F, flaming red hair, short and tiny, pretty but very tom-boyish. Bartender at Maeve's. Perpetually single. (Other name possibility: Finola; I haven't settled it yet).
Victoria - 26/F, tall, dark, and beautiful. Keelin's roommate, works for a Fashion Mag, always has a boyfriend, whether for a month or a day.
Mark - 24/M, tall, dark, and handsome, Keelin's best friend since childhood, always around when drinking is involved, no one knows what he does for a living.
Fergal - 40s/M, Owner/Manager of Maeve's, real big guy and very cheery (think Santa Claus....) (Other name possibilities: Fergus and Brendan).
So far, that's it. I'm still trying to write the script, but haven't gotten very far. I keep finding myself trying to just write the first few strips instead of laying down a basic plot line. However, I want to get that part more solid before I start talking about it. As for the art, I've started drawing/designing the characters, and getting my certain "style" down. I think I finally know how the layout will look though! (Very exciting!) If I can make it work, it'll be hand drawn characters and some objects (like maybe posters, lamps, a chair, whatever) and the background, including things they sit on/interact with, will be actual photos taken by me. There are a few locations here in Lubbock that I've been wanting to photograph for months now that would be really great for what I want.

"Moments of Elan"
at
20:27
This is a new blog , basically a diary, of how my comic is getting started. I figured it might be a great idea (or just an ordinary one) to write about everything that goes into writing, drawing, updating, a webcomic. As of now, I've only just started getting the characters together, and have been brainstorming the plot line. I've found it's much easier to get ideas from my own life when I'm not really focusing on writing. For instance, one of the girls became a bartender when friends and I were talking about how bad the service was at a certain bar we were at. As for the drawing bit, I'd love to get a Wacom "Bamboo Fun" so as to avoid the whole scanning etc bit. However, I want to see what I can do with acrylic painting because of the look it creates. Either way, though, I think I've got a bit of time to figure that out while the script is being worked on.
I can start, at least, with the strip's name: Moments of Elan. It refers to how most of my memories of life are like. Almost everything stored up there in my head are full of energy, fun, friends, and of course, we always do things with style!
